This picture looks so sweet and innocent. But....imagine a 1 1/4 mile hike, traveling 1,020 feet up a ROCKY mountain to see a lake, followed by the treacherous retreat down the mountain. On the way up, at the 1/4 mile marker, I told my boys that I wasn't sure if I could make it. At the 1/2 mile marker I asked someone how much further it was to the lake and they said "Oh, it's not bad and it's definitely worth it." My, oh my...they lied about the not so bad part. However, it truly was gorgeous when we made it to the top. We took about an hour and a half to climb to the top and an hour to get back down. Next year for Mother's Day all I want is breakfast in bed. Even cereal would do. It was a beautiful day and the boys and I are planning on hiking this trail again...(If I live that long...)Thus was just a itty bitty part of the trail.

Hi Lesly, I've left something for you on my blog, stop by and check it out.
What a gorgeous view! Sounds like you had a great time and you will probably remember this longer than breakfast in bed.:)
Beautiful scenery, but I HATE hiking!LOL There's a hiking trail across from my house and people hike, bike and ride their horses on the trail. A year ago we hiked it and I ended up with 5 ticks--one was IN my belly button. Yikes.
These will make a beautiful Mother's Day page! Breakfast in bed is on my list for next year too (:
Beautiful pictures, but I understand wanting breakfast in bed next year!
Yep.. I'm with you on this one.. The Marriott is 'roughing it' for me! Great scenery though. It is nice to be outside in good weather for a change.
