Crisscross Card Tutorial

Well I know I said I would post this last weekend, but time got away from me. If you have any questions about this tutorial, please feel free to ask. This card is “basically” made with a half sheet of 8 ½ x 11. Of course adding layers and other papers is always an option.

Gather your supplies. You will need:
Papers you have chosen
Paper Cutter
Adhesive
Stamps of your choice
Embellishments of your choice

Cut your papers into ¼ sheets.

Keeping one of your ¼ sheets whole for the back of the card, cut your remaining papers in half diagonally.

Because I am incapable of making a card without layers, I have chosen to layer each of my diagonal layers with two more papers. I have marked the second layer with the cut line marked ¼” in on the long side.

I then lay out my cross pieces in the direction they are going to be placed on the card and adhere them to my first layer.

The cutting line on the next layer is marked in ½”, making sure that the pieces will lay in the right direction when placed on the cross piece.

Adhere this layer to your crosspieces. You now have all three components of the card. If you weren’t using extra layers you would have been able to accomplish this entire card with one ½ sheet of 8 ½ x 11 paper.

Adhere your bottom cross piece layer to the card. I have drawn a squiggly line where the adhesive should be applied. If it is applied in the “wrong” place, you cannot get your small insert card into the crisscross. Not that I speak from experience making this mistake. :)

Next, adhere the top crisscross piece by placing the adhesive where I have the squiggly lines.

I cut my interior card 3 ½ x 4 ½ or whatever seems to fit taking into consideration that there is adhesive on each side of the card.

Embellish as desired. This seems long and complicated, but it really is easy. The main reason I like this method is that it uses less paper.

Bodacious Bouquet Easter Crisscross Card

Boy is that title a mouthful. This card uses the Bodacious Bouquet set and the inner card is stamped with "Easter Blessings" from the Never Ending Joy set. After stamping the flowers with the colored ink, I stamped them again with Versamark and embossed with Iridescent Ice. The leaves were embossed with Glassy Glaze. I've always enjoyed making crisscross cards, but I think I make them differently than most of the tutorials. I will try and post "my way" tomorrow. Thank you for taking the time to look and comment.

Another Sketch Challenge

I made this card for the Splitcoast SC164 challenge. The cardstock colors are WW, River Rock, Night of Navy and Always Artichoke. After I pierced the card and had it all put together I decided to add the white dots on the blue border. Hope you like it!

Thank you for visiting today. I'm hoping to post some more tomorrow.

New Card - Same SCS Sketch

Many, many months ago I ordered the Green Thumb set from Papertrey Ink because I loved this strawberry. I put the set away and had been unable to find it. So..... I ordered a second Green Thumb set (we're still talking a looonnggg time ago). Guess what? Same scenario, it was lost in the rubber black hole. Lo and behold, I found it yesterday. Oh, happy dance!!!! Hope you like the card. It's another one from the SCS sketch challenge #163. The papers are wild wasabi, purely promegranite, whisper white and basic black. Thank you for visiting!

I Am Honored to Be Given this Award!

Danyelle over at Hangnailznpapercutz.blogspot.com gave me this award. I can't begin to tell you how thrilled I am. I've only been at this blogging thing for about one month now and still don't know what I'm doing most of the time. I'm always amazed when someone visits my blog. I can't thank Danyelle enough. This made my day!!!

Yippee!!! Great Challenges on SCS!

The color and sketch challenges on SCS this week are perfect for me! I love the colors and the layout. This card uses Whisper White, Kraft, Green Galore, and Tempting Turqoise. I raised the saying on a dimensional, added ribbon and rhinestones and... Voila! Thank you for looking!

Cancer Poem

I also received some other unmounted stamps. This card was made for a close family friend who is suffering from her third round of breast cancer. Norma (Granmommy) we're thinking about you and keepin you in our prayers. If you know anyone with cancer, I ask that you take a moment out of your day and say a little prayer for them. Let them know you're thinking about them. If anyone wants one of these cards to send to a friend, let me know and I will send it out to you at no charge. The DSP might end up being different if I run out of this one, but I will try and keep it similar. Thank you for looking.

New "My Favorite Things"

I was so excited when I got home yesterday. I received two new sets from My Favorite Things. At midnight last night, after teaching Argentine Tango for three hours, I simply "had" to make a card with Serenity Now. Besides, I haven't posted anything new in a few days. This card uses SU's Old Olive, Really Rust and Elegant Eggplant. The DSP is from Deja Views "Global Views" paper pad. The stamps are both in the Serenity Now set from My Favorite Things. Thank you for looking!

Combining Two SCS Challenges

This is definitely not my favorite color combination, which is probably why I struggled with this card and why it's not one of my favorites. The colors for the challenge were Real Red, Apricot Appeal and Ballet Blue. The layout is from Sketch Challenge 162. Have a great day!

Found my Stamp Room, Again!

I haven't made it to my craft room for over four days! I just couldn't get motivated. I also had to teach dancing Friday night and then I hosted a dance at the Community Center in Glenwood Springs on Saturday. It was Boy Scout Sunday. Had to watch the Super Bowl. It snowed alot. I wonder if I can come up with any other excuses..... I stopped by Starbucks this afternoon and they had a cup with these three stripes on it and I thought "Aha! I can do that!" Hope you like it. It think I'm going to use this card for a swap I'm in on SCS. The paper colors are Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose. It's difficult to see, but the card based is Whisper White. Thanks for looking!

Winner! Winner! Winner!

Nettystamps is the winner!!!! Congratulations! You'll have to send pictures after your alter these so that I can post them for all to see! Please send me an email with your mailing address.
